Dr Abdul Saleh is Retiring on 10th December 2021
Dr Saleh moved to Wynnum as a GP in 1981. He started a solo practice in Wynnum Central on Bay Terrace (above the library). In 1988 he moved his practice to the newly renovated Shopping Centre in Wynnum and in 2000 he joined up with Dr Ian Upton (deceased 2020) and Dr David Hishon in the Wynnum and Bayside Medical Practice where he served the local community for 17 years.
In 2017 Dr Abdul Saleh moved to Manly Village Medical in Cambridge Parade. Abdul has enjoyed all aspects of general practice and many of his patients have seen him for the 40 years that he has been a GP in the area.
Abdul was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and studied medicine in Dublin, Ireland. After receiving his Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ireland, he moved to sunny Queensland where he did his internship at Redcliffe Hospital. Returning to South Africa he furthered his medical experience with terms at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto and Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria. Upon his return to Australia he worked at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and did locum work in the Brisbane region. During a six month term Charleville, Abdul met his wife, a teacher, at a local primary school.
Abdul is looking forward to having more time to pursue his other interests which include gardening, wood work, camping and travelling. He is also looking forward to spending more time with his grandchildren.
The Team at Manly Village Medical will miss him, wish him a long and happy retirement and thank him for his dedication as a Doctor for the past 40 years. His patients will be well looke after by other Doctors at the Practice.
