Dr Bern-Mari van der Merwe

Dr Bern-Mari is a female GP who completed her Medical Degree in 2011 and subsequent GP training in the United Kingdom. She relocated to Queensland and has been working as a fulltime GP since 2018. Bern-Mari is looking forward to using her skills to improve the health and wellbeing of patients at Manly Village Medical and the surrounding community!

Her special interests and expertise include:

• Childhood illnesses (and health checks and immunisations)
• Women’s health, fertility and contraception
• Mental health
• Chronic disease management and prevention
• Obesity management
• Oncology

Bern-Mari offers patient centred care and her passion is helping adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety and depression. She is enjoys working closely together with allied health professionals to help patients to be healthier and happier.  Her GP led weight loss schemes have been very successful in helping those struggling with obesity.

Her hobbies include exploring Australia with her husband and two boys, by visiting all the attractions far and wide. So far, they have not been disappointed and they love new suggestions of places to explore. Bern-Mari enjoys teaching students and keeping up to date with new medical advances. In her personal time, she adores acrylic painting, photography and she loves gathering inspiration for her next big piece of art.
